TEMATY I KONTEKSTY

CALL FOR PAPERS

About us

The format of the journal
Tematy i Konteksty is a scientific journal in the area of humanities (disciplines: literature studies, culture studies). It addresses the most significant issues related to literature studies and participates in crucial debates of the modern-day humanities. A literary work is placed in the centre of attention: its topology and poetics, its relations with various cultural contexts, as well as diverse institutional connections. These issues are studied by means of varied methodologies and presented from the perspectives of distinct sensitivities.
The intended format of the journal encompasses both the history and the theory (or rather theories), as well as anthropology of literature, in short – literary and cultural studies in their broad sense. We also wish to follow the latest scientific publications and to document important initiatives related to the Polish philology, both in Poland and abroad.
We seek cooperation with literary scholars, representatives of other areas of humanities, as well as writers and literary critics.

The phenomena of ghostwriting (which occurs when someone significantly contributed to the publication without disclosing his/her participation as one of the authors, or remaining uncredited in the acknowledgements section of the publication) and guest authorship (which occurs when the author’s participation is marginal or non-existent altogether, and yet he/she is listed as the author or co-author of the publication) are considered unethical and deemed a scientific misconduct. Each author shall grant a separate consent for publication of the article in the journal Tematy i Konteksty.

  3. In the case of suspected misconduct and in the case of submitted justified complaints about violation of the abovementioned ethical guidelines, the editorial team shall notify the author/authors in writing about the allegations and request them to take a stance towards this issue. If the misconduct is confirmed (or if the author/authors fail to respond to the allegations), the editorial team shall withdraw from the publication of the submitted work, and shall notify about the case the institution employing the author/authors concerned. In the case when the misconduct is unequivocally confirmed after the work has been published, the published article shall be supplemented with a relevant commentary (in the electronic version available on the journal’s website), and the institution employing the author/authors concerned shall be notified about the issue.

The history of the journal

Tematy i Konteksty (ISSN: 2299-8365) is a journal having a new title but a long tradition. It is a continuation of periodicals: Research Bulletin of the Univeristy of Rzeszów. Philological Series. The History of Literature (Zeszyty Naukowe Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego. Seria Filologiczna. Historia Literatury, published between 2002 and 2011; ISSN: 1643-0522) and Research Bulletin of the Teacher Training College in Rzeszów (Zeszyty Naukowe Wyższej Szkoły Pedagogicznej w Rzeszowie, published between 1991 and 2001; ISSN: 0867-0757). Those two featured articles on history and literature written by representatives of Polish philologists in Rzeszów.

In 2011, 20 years since these two journals were created, the editorial team decided to change the title, as well as to considerably expand its thematic format.
Individual issues of Tematy i Konteksty have the character of monographs. So far, we have published volumes discussing the following: The Great Emigration – The Second Independence Emigration – (E)migration at the End of the 20th Century (2011), The Archives of the Polish Philologist (2012), Poetics Today and Tomorrow (2013), Old-Polish and Enlightenment Religious Literature. Themes – Conventions – Tradition (2014).
